Travel with confidence
Last update - 22/02/2022
We want all customers to travel with confidence and recommend you wear a face covering if you can, as a courtesy to others.
We are also
- Maintaining an extensive cleaning regime for trains and stations
- Ventilating trains to refresh air
- Improving information about journeys and trains
Our teams have been working hard to make sure you can travel with confidence on our trains when we're running - just take a look at what we've been up to in this video:
For travel at weekends you must hold a seat reservation. If you booked an Advance ticket with us, these come with a mandatory seat reservation, so you won't need to worry. However, if you booked any other ticket type you may need to make a seat reservation before you travel - especially if you're travelling with friends or family. To make a seat reservation (subject to availability), contact our Customer Relations team on 0345 603 4852 (Option 3, then option 1). With services now available to book up to six months in advance, it's even easier for you to plan ahead and take advantage of our lowest fares and we'll keep you up to date with how busy each of our services are with our seat availability updates.
Remember that you can book with confidence and change any Grand Central ticket without a fee (even our Advance tickets) and booking in advance can save you up to 80% versus on-the-day travel! Purchased a ticket to travel with a different operator? Don't worry, you can book with confidence knowing that if your plans change, you'll be able to change that ticket without a fee too - and we're providing this promise until the 31 March 2022.
We regularly publish details of our quietest services, which we recommend travelling on for maximum comfort, these can be found on our Seat Availability page.
